This Ain’t For You

When you look at entrepreneurship, the challenges are many. There are tons of obstacles that you may have to overcome. After examining the some of the common obstacles such as lack of time and or resources; you can take the position that maybe its not the obstacles at all. Maybe it’s the individual faced with the obstacles. The most critical hurdles relating to entrepreneurship are those that relate directly to the characteristics of the individual. Understanding entrepreneur qualities is key to the success of the venture.

Paying the Cost

Many startups have to find ways to gain an edge or to even be noticed. To make this happen it takes time, research and many other things. This time and research comes at a cost. The real question you have to ask is are you willing to pay the cost. If you aren’t willing to do the research, or to spend your time studying, entrepreneurship may not be for you. If you aren’t will to wake up early, or stay up late to accomplish a task, then entrepreneurship may not be for you. We could go on for days with this question/answer survey regarding what you are or are not willing to do. However, the point remains that it takes, work and perhaps sacrifice to overcome the obstacles that occur during the journey. One of the most important entrepreneur qualities is resilience. Another would be discipline. You need the resilience to face the obstacles, and the discipline to execute relentless until you reach your goal.

Aside from the entrepreneur qualities that describe the nature of a “blood sport” athlete; there are other metrics which we can more easily subscribe. Are you eager to be financially free, or be the boss of your own time? Of course you are. We all desire these things. They make entrepreneurship appear beautiful and shiny. However don’t forget about the sacrifices required. We want the pleasantries associated with success, but we must also be prepared to do battle to get it.
