Overview: How to make a game? How to make a game slide

LoH Key Points

  • Capture your ideas

  • Build your circle of resources

  • Manage Risks

Capture your ideas

Step one in “how to make a game” is to capture your ideas.  This is actually step one in any startup process.  You need to begin capturing your ideas, and so you can begin developing them.  Do not rely on your mind to keep track of all the ideas that you have.  A common trend amongst several entrepreneurs that we talk with is that they keep a something to take notes with.  Whether it is a journal, a notebook, or an app, you need something to keep track of your ideas.

Build your circle of resources
No matter what industry you are in, networking in going to be a major key.  Surround yourself with individuals that can provide value in their expertise.  Build a dream team of people that you refer to for information.  You may be starting a company that sells games.   Having a finance expert, or a marketing expert to use as resources will be helpful along the way.  Start building your network, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Manage your Risks

When discussing how to make a game, Anthony from Social Laughs pointed out that you need to take some precautions before jumping out the window.  Make sure you are keeping your costs low. You will want to validate that your idea will sell before you get too far into the investment.  Another thing is to choose a name that is unique, so that you don’t get mixed up with other companies.  You want to brand yourself so that your audience is interested immediately.
